Name: K'doko
Gender: Male
Rank: Weyrleader
Location: Shadow Ridge Weyr
Age: 37
Birthplace: Fort Weyr
Physical Info
Physical Description: K'doko is an aging rider who lacks a perfectly chiseled figure of muscle and bone. He gets by with what muscle mass he has obtained throughout the years and doesn't complain over the fact that most men could easily take him on in a fight. His black hair is usually unkempt despite his many attempts to correct it and his beard grows in spontaneous patterns, looking very overgrown one moment and taking forever to regrow the next. His skin is crisply bronzed. He has eyes of a dark, steel-blue sort of colour, thin pink lips, and a nose that hangs slightly to the right.
Clothing/Weapons: K'doko tries to be crisp and neat about his appearance but for some reason it usually never happens for him. There's always a part of him that likes to be casual and walk about out of uniform, and he will, too. He only really dresses up when he feels he has to and his reason for that is simply manners. He carries a standard belt knife at most times but has been trained to utilize a crossbow and trader sword if the situation calls for those skills.
Personality: K'doko holds a firm grip over his Weyr without cutting off most of the freedoms of those beneath him. He is strict when it comes to Weyr duties but at other times he will sort of slack off and act a bit aloof. For example, harsh Wing practices will always be followed by wine and song, and K'doko will put his dancing skills to the test on the tables! He's always vying for the positive side of things and tries to make others see that things aren't really as bad as they may seem. He's one for a good joke and is partial to making jokes himself though usually, they aren't really that funny. Some are prone to think that he is a bad example of Weyrleader but he makes up for it in the long run.
History: Kuradoko was raised in a large family of seven brothers and sisters, ranking the fourth born child and the last male child. His parents were highly influential Craftmasters working in Fort Hold full-time while trying to provide for their children at the same time; however, Kuradoko and his siblings spent most of the time in the creche with the other Hold children. His father was a Masterharper who wrote fabulous ballads and stories, and his mother was a Masterscribe who spent most of her time in the Harperhall Library. It was from his parents that Kuradoko built a love for Harper teachings, hides, ballads, and the history of Pern. He tried to keep to his studies but for the most part he was a very carefree and naive little boy who wanted only to enjoy the finer things of life. Had he known then what he knows now, his life might have been drastically different.
Never did the thought of becoming Weyrleader ever cross Kuradoko's mind when he was a young Apprentice. Matter-of-factly, becoming a dragonrider wasn't even on his agenda. But as it turned out, that path had been chosen for him, as dragonriders from Fort came to the Hold on Search; Kuradoko and his sisters (Daruka and Kuroko) were chosen, and later Raduku (Kuradoko's older brother) traveled to the Weyr by runner to try his luck at Impressing out of the large clutch that had been laid.
Even as a Candidate, Kuradoko never really seemed to grasp the concept of "strictly business." He was aloof and a big jokester even while on duty sweeping the Halls, making him popular with most of the girls of the Weyr. He had his share of flings with each of them but never settled down with a single one. He had reserved his heart for what he called "his beautiful, majestic bronze," as most male Candidates were there to Impress no other colour than bronze.
When Hatching Day arrived, all four children stood together amongst the semi-circle of Candidates that surrounded the Sands. Kuradoko watched as a green claimed his sister Daruka and a blue to his brother R'duku, but he and Kuroko seemed to be excluded from the Impressions. Kuroko had two false alarms and Kuradoko was willing to give up when he saw the brown come crawling towards him. The brown, Galith, apologized for being late on the grounds that he had to help another dragonet out of its egg. K'doko Impressed Galith. Kuroko, incredibly hurt and ashamed, returned home to Fort Hold and never spoke a word to her brothers and sister again.
The three were now complete: Daruka and Ciputh, R'duku and Tchueth, and K'doko had Galith.
Sadly, Daruka and Ciputh did not live to see their brothers graduate; they were lost to the cold of *between*. R'duku and K'doko continued on, heartbroken, but not defeated.
Galith was the seriousness that K'doko needed to seriously fulfill his duties as a dragonrider. Though the boy was still aloof and easygoing, Galith was now there to draw the line for him and whip him into shape. They excelled to Wingsecond while R'duku and Tchueth turned out to be fine Searchriders. When the effort to rebuild Shadow Ridge Weyr was opened to the public, K'doko went with those Wings to help repopulate the Weyr. When the senior gold rose, it was only natural that Galith chased, but it was only by a stroke of luck that Galith won. K'doko was made Weyrleader.
Dragon Info
Name: Galith
Color: Brown
Age: 21 turns
Physical Description: Many browns have been hatched on the whole of Pern, but Galith is by far the largest and most beautiful one. His coloration is a red-brown, like that of freshly ground cinnamon sticks, with speckles of darker brown flecks over his neck and wings. His neck ridges and wing membranes are a slightly darker red-brown. His sleek and muscular body marks him to be one of the strongest browns in the South.
Personality: Galith, thankfully, doesn't seem to find things as carefree as K'doko. Though he is partial to a bit of laughter and easygoing times, the brown finds almost everything serious. His rider worries about the smallest things and Galith knows he has to be there to keep his rider calm; it's a job the brown loves doing and wouldn't trade anything for, because K'doko, although seemingly full of flaws, is his rider. As a male dragon he also fancies greenflights to pass the time, since the senior gold seems less than interested in his advances.
Where Impressed: Fort Weyr
